Brecon Beacons National Park

The log cabins overlook some of the most beautiful scenery of the National Park, whilst the opportunity to walk ride or cycle over many miles of it, is just down the road. http://www.breconbeacons.org/

Canoeing and River Sports

Canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting are all available in Glasbury at Wye Valley Canoes.  Contact:  01497 847213.

Biking

With quiet country lanes all round, we are ideally situated for a biking holiday. The National Cycling Network has 1000 miles to explore in Wales including the Taff Trail through the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Click here to download a leaflet (pdf). The Brecon Beacons National Park is also a very popular destination for mountain bikes, with 16 routes to suit all skill levels. For further information click here.   Or, with open moorland and bridle paths nearbye you can work out your own route with a good map and we'd be happy to advise you.

Fishing

Wye river fishing is available at Glasbury and licences from the post office there, which is part of the service station and shop.

Herefordshire

We are very close to the border of Herefordshire and there are many  places to see including the cider apple orchards, cheese making and other cottage industries which thrive on the borders. The city of Hereford, with its famous cathedral and 3th century world map, the Mappa Mundi, is about 20 miles away.  www.visitherefordshire.co.uk/

Horse Riding

We are 5 minutes from BRYNGWYN riding and trekking centre.  You can go straight up onto Bryngwyn hills and see wonderful scenery from here.  You can hire a horse or ring before you come and arrange livery for your own horse while staying with us.

Offa’s Dyke Path

Offa's Dyke is an amazing 1200 year old earthworks running the length of Wales and is Britain's longest ancient monument. Nowadays, many people every year walk the 177 mile National Trail which goes from Chepstow in the south, to Prestatyn in the north. The famous path is just a few minutes walk/horseride away and passes through some of Wales's most beautiful scenery in this area.  You can retrace the steps of history along the path and enjoy peace, wildlife and beauty. Walking

We are surrounded by beautiful hill walks and breathtaking views.  You can also join the Offa’s dyke path a few minutes down the road.  Very close by are the Black mountains and Hay Bluff or you can retrace the Reverend Kilvert’s footsteps.  We are in the heart of his country and the places mentioned in his famous diary.

Painting & Photography.

There are some beautiful spots to just sit and take photographs or paint.  Local artist Edwina Chambers often has exhibitions, paintings and lessons and is 2 minutes from us.  Contact: 01497 820119

Reading, Poetry and writing.

Hay on Wye is 4 miles away and holds an incredible number of varied bookshops, as well as being a delightful market town. www.hay-on-wye.co.uk. Of course there is Hay Guardian Book Festival each year in May and the winter Festival in December.  www.hayfestival.com  The bookshops are open all year round and a days browsing in Hay is always interesting.
