Our organic pigs are the latest addition to
our mixed farm. They are traditional breeds such as the Saddleback.
The piglets are bred at another organic farm a little way up the
Wye valley, by our friends Phil & Sue Bowen. They also have
ancient apple orchards and produce wonderful organic Apple Juice.
The farm name is Penlanole, near Rhayader, and it is well worth
a visit if you are in the area. (After you have called on us, of
course!)
The pork tastes wonderful and has a very natural
flavour, which reflects their free range lifestyle in small family
groups. The sausages are 99.5% pork made by our organic butcher
and the bacon is dry cured for at least a month. You can’t
rush good bacon our butcher says.
As the pork is in short supply, we will offer
you the choice of Penlanole pork or ours when you order.
